This course is offered through AH Paralegal Training and is not a NALP Ofqual accredited course.

A four part Distance Learning Paralegal Skills course, with Study Notes, Video uploads and Material provided.

Course content includes; the duties involved in attending court on Civil and Criminal Matters, District Judges Applications in Chambers and Attending an Employment Tribunal.

Fee: £250.

NB. We recommend that you apply for Affiliate Membership of NALP which costs £82 per year (including PPR registration). It is not mandatory to join NALP as a member but we strongly recommended doing so. With changes that are going on in the Legal Sector, especially in relation to Paralegals, members of NALP will be greatly advantaged because you will also be on the PPR which is the Professional Paralegal Register. A certificate will be awarded on successfully completing the Course Review Test which contains 25 questions, all relating to the content of the course and the answers to which can be found in your Study Notes and/or your Online Tutorials. The pass mark is 70%.

On successfully passing the Course Review Test you will also receive a 'Guide to Finding Work as a Freelance Paralegal'.

 

TERMS: once you have paid for this Distance Learning Course, you will have 14 days cooling off period during which time you can request a refund in full less administration charges of £10. After this time, you will receive the material, study notes and link to online tutorials and there will be no refunds given. Please ensure that you wish to proceed with this course before paying the fee because there will be absolutely no refunds given under any circumstances after the cooling off period has ended, the date of which will be given to you in the confirmation of payment email. Please also note that there is an overall time limit of 12 months to complete the course and receive your Certificate from this date.

Four course parts and an optional field trip to the Royal Courts of JUstice (for n extra fee of £10)

PART ONE:
Covers: civil court procedures and the duties, skills and principles required to carry out solicitors' instructions.

PART TWO:

Covers: how to analyse a case file and extract relevant information in order to prepare and present an application before a District Judge in chambers.

PART THREE:

Covers: how to take notes in court during trials or hearings, the duties involved in assisting barristers during criminal trials and how to take statements from witnesses.

PART FOUR:

Covers: Attending an Employment Tribunal including looking at a specific case study and the differences between attending court and a Tribunal

Entry Requirements

This course is open to School Leavers, Legal Support Staff, Undergraduates, Graduates, Foreign Qualified Lawyers and Career Changers.

Students are expected to have good Spoken English, comprehension and writing skills. There is a good amount of writing expected on this course

e.g. ESOL Level 2, GCSE English.
